Product Details

Pocket Book Spanish & Portuguese Editorial Review
Luces de Bohemia: Esperpento, a work edited by Alonso Zamora Vicente and accompanied by a reading guide and glossary from Joaquín del Valle-Inclán, is a critical exploration of 1920s Spain through the eyes of Max Estrella, an intelligent but blind writer navigating a society rife with corruption and mockery. Spanning 304 pages, this book intertwines literary traditions, showcasing influences ranging from picaresque themes to Romanticism, making it a valuable part of the Spanish vanguard theater. Readers appreciate Valle-Inclán's ability to captivate through vivid character development and a poignant reflection of the era, often recommending experiencing the play in a theatrical setting as it was originally intended for performance.
