Gritomatic Sharpening Stones GLASS-KME Editorial Review
The Grit-O-Matic glass blanks have received notable praise from knife enthusiasts and hobbyists for their effectiveness in achieving a sharp, polished edge on knives and other tools. Many users have reported remarkable results when pairing these glass blanks with lapping films, achieving mirror finishes with relative ease. The combination of the glass blanks with diamond sharpening systems is particularly highlighted, with users noting that they can produce hair-whittling edges effortlessly. However, potential buyers should be aware that the thickness of the glass blanks, measuring 6.8 millimeters, is greater than that of standard KME diamond stones, which are 4.8 millimeters thick. This difference necessitates adjusting the sharpening angle when shifting from diamond stones to lapping films, meaning users need to be prepared to reset their angles for optimum results. Many have advised using a digital angle gauge or a specific KME adapter to help mitigate potential issues that could arise from this adjustment. In terms of versatility, customers have found creative uses for the blanks beyond knife sharpening, including lapping computer heat sinks, which has expanded the product's utility. Overall, the Grit-O-Matic glass blanks come highly recommended for those seeking quality sharpening solutions, provided they are willing to accommodate the necessary adjustments for optimal usage. **
