Ritchie Compasses V-57.2 Editorial Review
The Ritchie Navigation V-57.2 Explorer Compass has received mixed feedback from customers, with some expressing satisfaction and others encountering issues. The compass generally fits well without forcing, making it convenient for existing 3 1/4" holes. However, some customers have faced challenges with installation on aluminum, sloping dashes, suggesting the need for additional shims or Considering a gimbal mount compass instead. The product has a 3" hole requirement, and despite not being equipped with a sun protector, it offers good visibility. Nevertheless, there are concerns about its performance in sub-freezing temperatures, as one customer reported leakage after -20 degree windchill, indicating potential issues with freezing. Those with a 4-inch hole may need to purchase a separate compass bulkhead adaptor or Construct one from sheet plastic, which adds to the hassle of installation.
