Answer: Our overall length is 19 1/2 inches. It is 8 3/4" on each side of the 2" center piece support. Because of the end cap you have 8" on each side to hang. -

Answer: If you can screw it in tight. It will hold them. -

Answer: I use these in my retail stores and there is more than enough room to hang the standard hanger without any problems or brushing up against the wall. -

How much weight can this hold?
Answer: A lot. Weight strength is dependent on how or where you install this. Just make sure it’s installed into a wall stud. This pipe is industrial and can hold a ton of weight. We use it in our retail store. This is heavy, and not something that would bend, split, or break. -

Can you hang heavy gear on it?
Answer: Yes this is exactly what we are using them for. Just make sure they are anchored to the wall in studs or with strong anchors. We also used lock tight on the threads but make sure they are exactly where you want them before you apply. Good luck. We love these. I use them in the laundry room, our boys’ room and in our gear room. -

What is the weight limit?
Answer: If you make sure it’s drilled into a stud, the weight this can hold is pretty good. The bars are very sturdy - but if it’s only drilled into regular plaster wall it won’t hold much before it falls off the wall and rips some wall off with it -

Will this support a hiking backpack (empty, or loaded to about 25 lbs)?
Answer: Empty would definitely be ok. But not 25 lbs!
