The Rikon Slow Speed Grinder is a good quality product. Customers appreciate its Consistent speed, and especially its slower speed allowing for precision sharpening without causing burnouts. The grinder’s overall build is sturdy and the customer service is excellent. There have been issues with the wheels coming with the grinder being poorly made and out of round; some customers could not even use them. Fitting other wheels (such as CBN wheels) required some sanding, and the Rikon parts needed to center the CBN wheels have been difficult to find. Many reviewers recommended purchasing new wheels to replace the poorly made default ones. The tool rests are different and removable for different types of tool-sharpening, but the angles may take some practice to use effectively. The spindle mount is plain-bearing. The grinder is manufactured in China.
