It is made of #304 stainless steel, which is sturdy and durable. The seat top is made of a "boat cushion" material that has a textured surface, making it slip-resistant even when wet. Installation is important, and the seat requires 2" of in-wall solid wood backing or adequate structural backing that is approved by local building codes. One downside pointed out in a review is that the stainless U track for the lower support arms doesn’t lock the seat in the full closed position, and the stainless U bracket has a solid part that may be hard to clean and de-mold. Overall, this shower bench seat is an excellent choice for anyone looking to make their shower more accessible and user-friendly.
