It comes pre-packaged from the factory with rubber sleeves on both ends of the bar and shipped inside a sturdy tube that has end-plugs, then shrink-wrapped, all before going in Amazon's box. Shipping damage seems to be common in these from other vendors, but Fulton has taken steps to avoid this. The tool is soft aluminum, so it is not suitable for severe use. Nevertheless, it is accurate and perfectly flat/straight.
